Quick answer

Spacetime Rifts open 8 times a day, every 3 hours. On Global servers the openings are at 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 server time. The entry portal stays open for only 10 minutes — miss it and you wait 3 hours for the next one. Once inside, you get 60 minutes in the opposite faction’s territory to finish 7 quests, run dungeons, and hunt field bosses.

How the Spacetime Rift works

The Spacetime Rift is Aion 2’s cross-faction portal system. Normally Elyos and Asmodians are locked to their own territories, but every 3 hours a rift tears open that leads directly into the enemy faction’s map — Verteron for Asmodians crossing over, Altgard for Elyos. It is the only legitimate way to set foot in opposite-faction zones, and the game gates some of its most rewarding quests behind it.

The cycle has three phases you need to internalize. First, the opening: a rift appears at one of several fixed spawn locations and stays interactable for 10 minutes. Second, the window: once you step through, you have 60 minutes on the other side before you are sent back. Third, the cap: each portal admits roughly 300 players, and once it fills, a fresh portal opens at a different location. In practice this means popular rifts sprout multiple portals in sequence — if your first portal is full, keep checking the other spawn points instead of giving up.

Rifts do not spawn in the same place twice in a row. The portal picks randomly from a set of known locations each cycle, and its appearance is announced server-wide. From that moment the clock is ticking: ten minutes to find it, reach it, and click it. Treat every opening like a world boss spawn — be in position before it appears, not after the announcement.

A practical note: the fastest way to never miss a rift is to plan around it. If the next opening is 40 minutes away, that is exactly enough time for a dungeon run — but not for two. Check the timer before committing to anything long, and be standing near a spawn location with 5 minutes to spare.

How to enter the rift

When a rift opens, the game announces it and a purple spiral icon appears on your world map — but only when you are zoomed in far enough, so check the map immediately after the announcement and zoom in on the spawn regions. Travel to the location and interact with the portal before the 10-minute window closes.

Two things trip players up here. First, the green quest marker: your rift quests only progress if the portal you enter displays the green marker. Entering a portal without it burns your trip — this is also the source of the well-known bug where the quest log never completes. If the marker is missing, wait for the portal to transfer to a new location and check again rather than entering blind. Second, the player cap: if the portal at your location is full, do not wait around. Another portal opens elsewhere once one fills, so rotate through the known spawn points until you find an open one.

Spacetime Rift quest walkthrough

The rift questline is the main reason most players go through the portal, and the single biggest mistake is entering before picking the quests up. The walkthrough that the veteran players all recommend has four steps, in this order:

  1. Accept all 7 quests first. Elyos players pick them up from Mino at the Dawn Legion Temporary Outpost in Verteron; Asmodian players from Uru in the Collapsed Chasm region of Altgard. Grab every one before you go near a portal — you want to finish them all in a single trip.
  2. Enter through a green-marked portal. The first quest completes automatically the moment you step through. No green marker, no progress — wait for a transfer if you have to.
  3. Work the objectives inside. You have a full hour. Clear the quest objectives one by one rather than wandering — the clock is generous but not infinite, and PvP can interrupt you.
  4. Return to Mino or Uru after the run to turn everything in and collect the rewards.

The quests are regional, which means you cannot pick up the opposite faction’s regional quests while you are over there — only the 7 rift quests count. Recommended level for the questline is 45, so treat this as endgame content rather than something to do while leveling.

  • Spacetime Rift: Unfamiliar Material - Elyos
  • Spacetime Rift: Beautiful Carapace

  • Spacetime Rift: Trendsetter

Asmodian quests (from Uru)

  • Spacetime Rift: Asmodian
  • Spacetime Rift: Unknown Species
  • Spacetime Rift: Unfamiliar Material - Asmodian
  • Spacetime Rift: Difference Between Here and There
  • Spacetime Rift: Developing Travel Goods

Spacetime Rift rewards

Completing the full questline pays out a solid bundle of bound progression materials plus a faction title you cannot get anywhere else. The common rewards are identical for both factions; the ring and the title differ.

Both factions

EXP0.1% of a level
Kina (Bound)21,000
Wisdom Stone (Bound)x1
Daevanion Crystal (Bound)x1
Stigma Shardx1
Abyss Pointsx2,000

Elyos exclusive

Facade Ringx1
Title: Altgard TravelerPermanent title

Asmodian exclusive

Outsider Ringx1
Title: Verteron TravelerPermanent title

The titles — Altgard Traveler for Elyos, Verteron Traveler for Asmodians — are the real long-term prize. Materials get consumed; titles are forever, and they signal that you were there at launch doing the hard content.

Rift spawn locations

Portals spawn at fixed candidate locations and rotate randomly each cycle. Learn these spots so you can get to the nearest one the moment the announcement drops:

Verteron (Elyos side)

  • Garden of the Illusion God (Verteron)
  • Verteron Fortress Ruins (Verteron)

Altgard (Asmodian side)

  • Basfelt Ruins (Altgard)
  • Southwest of Briskwind Shelter (Altgard)
  • Collapsed Chasm (Altgard)
  • Near Krao Cave (Altgard)
  • South of Purifying Forest (Altgard)

What to do inside the rift

The quests are the headline, but an hour is a long time — efficient players stack activities. Sealed dungeons and strongholds on the enemy map are the best filler: they are quick, many clear in about a minute, and the rewards add up across repeated trips. Field bosses are the jackpot if your group can handle them, dropping some of the most coveted gear in the game — pieces you can wear, convert into skins, or turn in for supply requests and market Kina.

Go in with a plan, not a wandering eye. Decide before entering whether this trip is a quest run, a dungeon blitz, or a boss hunt, and commit — the players who try to do everything usually finish nothing before the hour expires or a PvP gank squad finds them.

Survival tips

  • Plant your own Kibelisk immediately. You cannot use the enemy faction’s kibelisks, and their patrolling guards will one-shot you. Your planted Kibelisk becomes your respawn point — without it, dying inside means a very long walk back.
  • Never fight near enemy kibelisks. The guards around them are not a fair fight. Give those areas a wide berth no matter how tempting the shortcut looks.
  • Bring a group or accept the risk. You are behind enemy lines, and with War Mode on, enemy players are hunting. Solo trips are viable for fast quest runs, but anything ambitious wants a party.
  • Prep before the window opens. Repair, stock consumables, clear bag space, and accept all 7 quests ahead of time. The 10-minute entry window is not the moment to discover your bags are full.
  • Have an exit mindset. Know which portal locations are nearest to your objectives so you can extract toward them as the hour winds down — getting caught deep in enemy territory at minute 59 with no plan is how trips end badly.

Spacetime Rift FAQ

When is the next Spacetime Rift?

Rifts open 8 times a day, every 3 hours. On Global servers the openings are at 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 server time; Korea and Taiwan use 02:00, 05:00, 08:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 20:00 and 23:00 on their own clocks. The countdown at the top of this page converts the next opening to your local time.

What happens if I miss the 10-minute entry window?

You wait for the next cycle — there is no late entry. The portal only accepts players for the first 10 minutes after it appears. Because rifts open every 3 hours, missing one costs you up to 3 hours, so arrive at a spawn location a few minutes early.

What level do I need to be for Spacetime Rift quests?

Level 45 is the recommended level for the Spacetime Rift questline on Global servers. It is an endgame activity, not something you do while leveling.

My quest did not complete after entering the rift. Is it bugged?

Probably the known green-marker bug: the quest only progresses if the portal you enter shows the green quest marker. If it does not, wait for the portal to transfer to a new location and check again for the marker before entering.

Can I respawn inside the enemy faction map?

Not at the enemy kibelisks — you cannot use them, and their guards will kill you on sight. Plant your own Kibelisk in a safe spot as soon as you arrive; it becomes your respawn point if you die inside the rift.

Is the Spacetime Rift PvP?

It can be. You are in the opposite faction’s territory, and with War Mode enabled, expect enemy players. Go prepared for a fight, or go with a group — solo players are easy targets in there.

What should I do inside the rift besides quests?

Run the sealed dungeons and strongholds on the enemy map — they are quick, often clearable in about a minute, and worth doing while you are there. Field bosses are the bigger prize if your group can handle them.

Bottom line

The Spacetime Rift is the best recurring event in Aion 2’s launch: 8 chances a day, real rewards, and gameplay you cannot get anywhere else. The players who get the most out of it treat it like an appointment — check the timer, show up 5 minutes early with quests in hand, and leave with a full bag. Bookmark this page; you will be back every 3 hours.
