Overview

Cleric is the definitive healer of Aion 2, and healing in this game is not the passive backline job it is elsewhere. When parties wipe on hard content, the difference between clearing and corpse-running is usually the Cleric — the only class with the raw healing output to drag a group through mechanics that should have killed them. That responsibility makes Cleric the highest-impact support in the game: a great Cleric wins fights before they start by making the party effectively unkillable, while a bad one makes every pull feel impossible. The trade is everything else. Cleric deals the least damage of any class, levels the slowest, and spends its career being blamed for other people’s mistakes. But it is also the class no serious group will ever cut, in any meta, on any patch.

Cleric at a glance

  • Solo — C: Nearly unkillable but painfully slow — lowest damage in the game. You can complete almost anything; it just takes twice as long as anyone else.
  • Group PvE — S: Non-negotiable for hard content; the only true main healer. The gap between an average and a great Cleric is the largest of any class in the game.
  • PvP — A: Fight-warping in groups; the enemy team’s priority target. Healing and cleansing undo entire gameplans — if you survive the focus.

Cleric in PvE

In PvE, Cleric is non-negotiable for serious content. Raids and hard-mode dungeons are tuned around having real healing — without it, the group simply does not clear. The job is triage under pressure: reading the fight, predicting damage spikes, and spending cooldowns before the party needs them rather than after. Great Clerics make hard content feel easy and turn near-wipes into clears; the gap between an average and a great Cleric is the largest of any class. On easy farm content the job is boring, which is the price of being essential where it matters.

Cleric in PvP

In PvP, a good Cleric is the most fight-warping presence on the field. Healing and cleansing undo the enemy team’s entire gameplan, which is why every competent team focuses the Cleric first — and why Clerics who survive focus win games. Defensive cooldowns give it real staying power against dives, and in organized play the Cleric is the backbone every composition is built around. Solo PvP is a different story: without teammates to heal, the class has little threatening offense, so it shines in groups and struggles alone.

Solo play

Soloing as Cleric is an exercise in patience. You are nearly unkillable, which means you can complete almost any solo content — it will just take twice as long as anyone else. Damage output is the lowest in the game, so leveling and farming are slow by design. Cleric is a group-first class; solo players should look at Spiritmaster or Gladiator instead. If you do solo, lean into the survivability: pull more than feels safe, because you can outlast almost anything.

Playstyle and difficulty

Playing Cleric is high-stakes decision-making disguised as a support role. Every global cooldown is a choice about who lives: pre-shield the tank or save it, heal the DPS now or trust their potion, spend the big cooldown on this mechanic or the next one. The skill floor is moderate — keeping a decent group alive through normal content is learnable — but the ceiling is enormous, because great healing is really fight prediction. Rated Medium: accessible basics, one of the highest mastery curves in the game.

Group value

Cleric is the one class no group composition debates. Tanks can flex, DPS can swap, but the healer slot is sacred — and at launch, Cleric owns it outright. In hard content the Cleric is arguably the most important player in the party, full stop.

Strengths

  • Strongest raw healing output of any class — the only true main healer at launch
  • Essential for raids and hard-mode dungeons; groups tuned around having one simply do not clear without it
  • Fight-warping in PvP: healing and cleansing undo entire enemy gameplans
  • Solid defensive cooldowns give real survivability against focus fire and dives
  • The largest skill-expression gap of any support — great Clerics carry groups single-handedly

Weaknesses

  • Lowest damage output in the game — leveling and solo farming are painfully slow
  • Blamed first when parties wipe, regardless of whose fault it actually was
  • Boring on easy content: the job only gets interesting when the content gets hard
  • Mana management is real in long fights — wasteful healing gets punished
  • Helpless alone in PvP; needs teammates to have any offensive threat

Beginner tips

  • Heal proactively, not reactively — the best healing lands before the damage does, so learn each fight’s damage patterns
  • Track enemy cooldowns in PvP; your cleanses and defensives should answer their burst, not follow it
  • Do not overheal out of anxiety — mana wasted on full-health bars is missing when the real spike comes
  • Position like a DPS player: close enough to reach everyone, far enough that dives have to overextend to reach you
  • Find a tank you trust and build around them; Cleric-plus-reliable-tank is the core every group is built on

Common mistakes

  • Healing reactively instead of proactively — the best heals land before the damage does
  • Overhealing out of anxiety and running dry when the real spike hits
  • Standing in the open in PvP instead of positioning like a target — because you are one
  • Trying to DPS instead of healing — your damage is negligible; your healing is everything

Progression philosophy

Healing progression is about prediction, not throughput. Early on, focus on learning damage patterns rather than bigger heals — a well-timed small heal beats a late big one every time. Gear helps, but the largest gains come from fight knowledge: knowing when the spike comes, who it targets, and which cooldown answers it. Do not measure yourself by meters; measure by wipes prevented. And build a relationship with a reliable tank — the Cleric-tank duo is the foundation every group is built on, and progressing together accelerates both of you.

Cleric FAQ

Is Cleric hard to play?

The basics are moderate — keeping a normal group alive is very learnable. What is hard is the mastery: predicting damage, triaging under pressure, and carrying bad groups. Expect a long, rewarding climb.

Cleric vs Chanter — which should I main?

Cleric if you want the definitive healer with the biggest individual impact on survival; Chanter if you prefer enabling damage and faster group-finding. Cleric is more essential in hard content, Chanter is more in-demand overall. Both are always wanted.

Can Cleric DPS?

Technically yes, practically no. Its damage is the lowest in the game by design — the class is built entirely around keeping others alive. Do not pick Cleric expecting a battle-healer fantasy.

Do groups really need a Cleric, or can Chanter cover healing?

They really need a Cleric. Chanter brings buffs and shields, not real healing throughput — on any content that matters, the two stack rather than substitute. Skipping the Cleric is how groups wipe.

How do I handle getting blamed for wipes?

Accept that it comes with the role and develop a filter: learn from legitimate criticism, ignore the rest. Good groups know the difference between healer failure and DPS standing in fire. Find those groups and keep them.

Is Cleric viable in PvP, or just PvE?

Very viable in group PvP — healing and cleansing undo entire enemy gameplans, which is why you are target number one. Solo PvP is a different story: without teammates, you have little offensive threat. Play it in groups.

What is the most important Cleric skill?

Prediction. The best healing lands before the damage does, which means learning each fight’s patterns matters more than reaction speed or raw throughput. A Cleric who knows what is coming is worth two who do not.

Is it hard to find groups as Cleric?

It is the easiest of any role. Every group needs exactly one healer and there is no competition for the slot at launch. You will spend less time looking for groups than any DPS class — the tradeoff is that everyone expects you to carry.

Who should play Cleric?

Players who want the traditional healer fantasy and guaranteed group spots.

Bottom line

Cleric is responsibility made into a class. You will carry groups through content they had no right to clear, get blamed for wipes that were not yours, and level slower than everyone you know. In exchange, you are the single most important player in hard content — the one no composition debates and no meta removes. Pick Cleric if you want your skill to matter more than anyone else’s, and you can handle the weight that comes with it.

Similar classes

  • Chanter: The buffer. Chanter multiplies group damage while you keep everyone alive — the two stack rather than compete. Pick Chanter for a more active support style.
  • Templar: Your tank partner. The Cleric-Templar duo is the foundation every hard group is built on; if you main Cleric, befriend a Templar.
